I am one of the few natives: born and raised in Miami, Florida. I now live in Asheville, North Carolina. Early in life, it was apparent I needed an artistic outlet to express myself fully. I originally trained in music, studying classical guitar and clarinet. However it became evident that a career in music was not meant to be. Given an interest in the communication arts, I became trained as a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist, focusing on how people relate to each other and their environments.
Looking for ways to further my creative expression, I became interested in the work of the founders of modern photojournalism: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau and Andre Kertesz, in particular. However, it was the photographs of Cartier-Bresson that most influenced the direction of my work. I was especially intrigued by the concept of the “Decisive Moment” in which there is that moment the true picture, the true essence of the subject comes through and is there for the photographer to capture for all time. All proceeds for my first show “On The Jazz In New Orleans” went to Hurricane Katrina Relief. I have exhibited at The First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami, The Gilded Hand Gallery in Coral Gables, Florida, The Camaraderie Café in Woodfin, the “Gallery Trio” show of the Arts Council of Hendersonville County, the Asheville Arts Council, Café’ Ello in Asheville and at the Biltmore Estate Deerpark Restaurant, Avenue M and the Blowers Gallery in the Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville. More of my work can be found on: redbubble.com and in The Laurel Of Asheville.
